Later this week, we are expecting our next shipment of new lighted canvas prints. Over the next weeks and months we will be receiving new lighted canvas prints as they are available to ship. Stay in touch here, or on our Facebook page to see up-to-date info on our new arrivals! Check these three out right now . . .
We also now have beautiful made-in-Pennsylvania dried wreaths made of Pepper Grass, Dock and Penny Cress. Bunches of each of the dried materials are available for under $10.00 a bunch! These are great for your country and primitive home decorating!
New product – rugs, curtains, gifts, word blocks and more coming in each week!
We have a few MERRY CHRISTMAS (lighted) Radiance canvas prints that came in this week. This is our third order of this particular print, and sadly we were not able to get as many as we wanted. Some of you who asked to be called upon delivery have been called, and we have just a few more to put out for sale. Stop in soon if you want one!
Christmas music from GreenHill Productions has arrived. We will be playing it in the store beginning Black Friday, but we have it for sale now. Celtic and Irish music; Smokey Mountain; Gaither Vocal Band; Oak Ridge Boys; BlueGrass and more music is available now!
Door County Coffees and Cocoas have just been restocked, including Jingle Bell Java (our best seller) and much more!
We will again decorate one of our trees with an assortment of ornaments that can be bought for a donation that we will make to the Red Cross (and maybe another local organization). The tree will be decorated by Black Friday for your donation purchases! More info on that to come.

This past weekend, we participated in a Holiday Open House at a nearby model home. We had a great time decorating with a few things from the store on Saturday, then hanging out with other participating vendors on Sunday afternoon. We loved the house and the country setting, and though the party is over, the house is still available to tour. If you’re in the area – stop by and take a look!
Some photos from the day:
We decorated the windows with Tobacco Cloth prarie curtains, valances and a swag along with wreaths, and battery operated candles in tin holders with matching candle rings.
Plain greenery and added picks that match the wreaths look great on the fireplace mantle. A santa, another candle holder, stockings topped off with a beautiful glittered print finish the look.
A close up look at the mantle greenery:
We added an 8 foot alpine tree with lots of lights, a beautiful quilted throw on the couch and a battery operated lighted canvas above the couch. A great way to use wreaths – place them around the bottom of table lamps!
We can help you with these looks – stop in.
In just a bit over two weeks autumn will officially be here! Does anyone else wonder what happened to summer – those long hazy days of summers of our youth? I’m realizing that I mention how fast time is going by an awfully lot the last couple years. My body is slowing down so I don’t understand why the days are doing just the opposite!
Anyway, fall is on the way and we wanted to show you some bits of what we’ve been busy with in the store. It’s almost unanimous that fall is our favorite time to decorate – not necessarily with ghosts, witches, bats and the things of Halloween. But with the colors, pumpkins, florals, scarecrows, cooler weather and fallish scents of harvest. When you stop by here, these are some of this things you can expect to see:
If you noticed the 2014 calendars in the photos, it’s just a reminder that we do have a really good selection of calendars from Lang, Legacy and Crossroads.
We have had such a great response online and in the store about our lighted canvas prints, so we are going to give you one last peek at some of the newer prints we’ve gotten in recently. As has happened before, we’ve sold out of a couple of our newest ones already! Take another look at these:
At this time, we have one more shipment of lighted canvas coming in early August. If you have any questions . . . give us a call. If you want to see them in person stop by soon!
Last year (2012) in August, we displayed our very first shipment of the “Radiance” battery operated lighted canvas prints. We wrote a blog about them along with some photos back on September 26. We knew by then that we were onto something BIG, as we sold out of most of them by the time that blog was posted! Folks bought them for themselves and for gifts — and customers came in after seeing them displayed at a friend’s house!
Since then, we have reordered and reordered the most favorite ones, and introduced newer ones. Last month, when we got in our most recent order – we also got our first new fall and winter prints. And they have been ‘flying off the wall’! Here are some of them – just imagine the candles and lights flickering . . . then come on in and take a look.
A hit like these is often quickly copied in the world of retailing. But we have to tell you, of the other companies that now have lighted canvases – from what we’ve seen – we love these prints far more and have just ordered more (many new) designs. As with most of the items in the store, we will try to get in your requests for specific lighted prints . . . but many again will end up being sold out at the company and not available for us to order.
Here at the store, we have our favorites — but this one seems to be a favorite with almost everyone!
Most folks we talk with have a hard time with the fact that we’ve already finished the first 4 months of this year 2013. When you work in retail, the time goes especially fast, mostly because you are always thinking ahead — up to six months or more. It is a constant balance for us to look for new product that you all will love (like our lighted stretched canvas prints that we have trouble keeping in stock!); buying just the right amount of that product – not too much but not too little; and keeping everyone’s favorite items in stock.
For example, we sell lots of curtains and braided jute rugs from several companies and it is nearly impossible to keep all the different styles and sizes in-store at all times. We restock almost weekly for our most popular items, but we also accept many special orders. Fortunately, most of the time, we can order curtains and rugs from our suppliers and have those items within a short amount of time. We can also ship, or drop ship curtains, rugs, quilted bedding and other soft items if you don’t live nearby.
Our newest new-for-us product comes from Camille Beckman. We’ve handled their card inserts for quite some time – a bit of lotion in a foil packet inside a small folder that easily slips into a card. It makes that card you are mailing just a little more special. After a bit of research and reading lots of customer reviews, we decided that our customers would really enjoy Camille Beckman Glycerine Hand Therapy. We recently brought in 3 of the company’s most popular fragrances (Camille, French Vanilla, Tuscan Honey) in a variety of items. In addition, we still have the card inserts and purse size Hand Therapy fragrances. If you want to check out the huge variety of items and fragrances the company has developed, look here.
Mothers’ Day is coming quickly and we are stocked up on many gifts all those women in your life will love . . . music boxes, Willow Tree, gourmet coffees, embroidered lace, candles, wax melts and wax melters, nightlights, battery operated candles and lanterns, soaps & lotions, gift certificates and lots more. We can help you make up a gift bag or basket with several goodies.
Have you joined our rewards program and birthday club? Every day, people are benefitting from signing up.
Looking forward to seeing you soon!

Only a couple days late with this New Year’s wish!
Many folks may think that January brings alot of downtime when you have a small retail store. Let me tell you that this is not so! We might take a couple days after Christmas to recover from all the hustle and bustle of the previous weeks, and this year we had to take time to recover from whatever illness everyone seemed to be passing around. But, the after-Christmas clearance time brings a different kind of busyness to our store.
Besides helping customers, we also use this time to reorganize and thoroughly clean everything front to back and top to bottom. And, of course – there’s the inevitable inventory – probably our least favorite activity of the year . . . but it has to be done. This really is the best time of the year to count product — because much of it has left the store! Looking around at remaining inventory shows many empty spots . . . framed prints (many gone) . . . lighted stretched canvas prints (a couple left) . . . Lang, Legacy and Crossroads wall calendars (at last look – 3 left if you still need one) . . . boxed Legacy Christmas cards (very few boxes left – still on sale) . . . Willow Tree, Blossom Bucket, curtains and rugs (gone, gone, gone).
This year, besides doing all the above (and more), we’ve decided to move complete areas around – the first we’ve done this in several years. What were we thinking? We all know that you can’t move just one thing – even at home – you decide to move the TV and the recliner has to move, too. The floor lamp has to go next to the couch which no longer can stay along that wall . . . you know the routine. Next thing – you’re buying new curtains to go with the new rug to go with the new coffee table! It just never ends!
For those of you familiar with our store, you will immediately see what we have done – Boyds Bears have temporarily moved out so we could move our curtains and textiles to the front of the store. Cards and other paper product have moved slightly to the back to give them their own not-so-crowded space. And, in that same area, we have more room to show off the magnetic Embellish Your Story by Roeda collection that we have.
Maybe some photos will help
It’s definitely a work-in-progress. Those empty spots? We’ll get them filled in just as soon as we can! You’ll have to stop by and see what a difference it makes!

About those lighted stretched canvas prints we mentioned in our last post . . . they are not hard to describe – the unframed stretched canvas prints have battery operated flickering LED lights. That’s it. Simple.
But the effect is amazing, unique, beautiful, different – just some of the comments from our customers. The prints have become a must-have for many of you, and we sold out of them almost immediately after our first shipment in August. In fact, the company sold out of many of them with their first shipments in August. But now, we have them back in stock and again, they are moving very quickly!
These photos will not give the full impact of seeing them lit in our store (or in your home). But you will have an idea of what we are talking about. While there are many more lighted stretched canvas prints available, we chose to stock ones that fit our store – mostly artwork from Billy Jacobs. We have a variety of sizes and prints right now – but they are again moving very quickly. Come, check them out and you will understand why!
Now, just imagine that each of the candles, the window lights in the church and the Statue of Liberty’s torch are all flickering. Told you. You’ve got to stop by to see them!
